Back in the pdp11 days, our department's old electronics man, who'd seen
almost everything, told us:  "if you've had the machine apart and it
doesn't work when you power it up, reseat the boards; if it still doesn't
work, reseat the boards *again*".  Good advice; we had cause to try it
once or twice, and it worked.
